Research
Applied and practice-based research for the development of better knowledge, methodologies and tools for the effective and responsible development of IX. From exploratory research to artistic-design research.
Action Line 1 forms the knowledge base of the programme. It funds scientific and practice-based research projects that investigate the effectiveness, applicability and societal impact of IX. The insights from these projects feed into all other action lines.
More about Action line 1CIIIC PRO
Multi-year practice-oriented research aimed at developing knowledge and practical approaches to improve and expand the application of immersive experiences (IX).
CIIIC Start
CIIIC Start offers funding for one-year exploratory research.
CIIIC Kern
Demand-driven, practice-oriented research into immersive experiences. Consortia of universities of applied sciences and businesses work together on research questions that come straight from practice.
ADRIE
Artistic and design research in immersive experiences. For artists, designers and creative professionals exploring the boundaries of IX.
Talent & Skills
Expanding and strengthening the talent pool to conceptualise, build and apply IX. Through learning communities, training vouchers and educational modules.
Within CIIIC, Talent & Skills is not only about technology, but above all about people: ensuring there are enough well-trained professionals to develop and apply immersive experiences (IX), now and in the future. This applies across the entire value chain, from creators to professionals in sectors such as healthcare, security, media and education, and across all levels of education. We strengthen the talent pool by fostering collaboration between education, research, industry and public organisations, so that knowledge is more quickly applied in practice and fed back into education. Learning communities form the foundation of this approach, supported by instruments such as educational modules and training vouchers. In this way, we are building a strong and flexible ecosystem in which learning, working and innovating come together.
More about Action line 2Learning Communities
This programme connects innovation, learning, and work, enabling professionals to further develop their knowledge and skills in immersive experiences. It involves four-year projects by consortia from research, education, and practice.
Market-oriented Training Modules
These market-oriented training modules help IX creators and professionals further develop their knowledge, skills, and competencies. The practice-oriented modules are aligned with the needs of the labour market and strengthen expertise within the IX field.
Training Vouchers
Within this programme, which is currently under development, vouchers will become available for training and upskilling in the skills required to design, create, and apply immersive experiences (IX).
Facilities
Building a strong, interconnected Dutch IX innovation ecosystem and supporting its research, education, development, and application.
Action Line 3 builds the physical and digital infrastructure for IX development. IX Labs offer makers and researchers access to advanced equipment, testing environments and expertise. These facilities form the backbone on which all other activities build.
More about Action line 3IX Labs Phase 2
Smaller, complementary facilities with a focus on specific domains or regions. These labs will be developed during the second phase of CIIIC (2028–2029).
IX Labs Phase 1
A network of large-scale, well-equipped facilities that play a central role in the national IX ecosystem. They form the foundation of the IX infrastructure and support multidisciplinary use for productions, societal applications, experimentation, and research.
Innovation challenges
Projects around the design, production, application and impact of IX, bringing together public and private organisations. Consortia develop solutions for concrete societal challenges.
Action Line 4 connects IX makers with end users. Through Innovation Impact Challenges, consortia work on concrete societal issues from government organizations. Here, IX innovation is transformed into working solutions with proven impact.
More about Action line 4Synergy & Coherence
Coherence and synergy between the action lines, connecting parties in the IX ecosystem. From innovation agenda to knowledge platform, from public values to community and events.
Action Line 5 ensures the connection between all programme components. Through community building, events, knowledge sharing and communication, we strengthen the network and ensure that acquired knowledge is broadly shared across the ecosystem.
More about Action line 5CIIIC Community
